Matumaini

Matumaini

Matumaini means “hope” in Swahili. It is a visual art exhibition with a goal to bring hope to a community with broken hearts, through creativity.

Addressing the subjects on identity, culture, healing and love, these artworks portray hope through a wide range of stories they tell.

Featuring artists from Tanzania and Burundi, a wide range of technique and skill have been used, in the efforts of accurately showcasing hope. Ranging from acrylic, charcoal, graphite, pastel, digital prints, fabric and thread.

The physical exhibition took place at Alliance Française Arusha, from March to April 2026.
